What is a D.O?

DOs are doctors who are trained to look beyond your symptoms to understand how lifestyle and environmental factors impact your well-being. As part of their medical education, DOs receive special training in the musculoskeletal system, your body’s interconnected system of nerves, muscles and bones. By combining this knowledge with the latest advances in medical technology, they offer patients the most comprehensive care available in health care today.
DOs strive to help their patients be truly healthy in body, mind and spirit- not just free of symptoms. They use Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment, OMT, which is a set of techniques to treat and prevent illness and injury. These techniques, including myofacial release and cranial, move a patient's muscles and joints, as well as access the nerves, with stretching, gentle pressure and resistance. OMT can help patients of all ages and backgrounds. Although it is often used to treat muscular and joint pain, it can also help provide relief for asthma, sinus disorders, migraines, carpal tunnel syndrome and anxiety. In many cases, the treatment can be used to complement, or even replace drugs or surgery.
